'Whispering Waves' - PDF Shawl Knitting Pattern for 4-ply/fingering

Sale Price: £5.00 Original Price: £6.00

A large, semi-circular shawl featuring simple eyelets at the beginning and end, and a majestic drop-stitch pattern that superbly shows off that special skein of multicolour yarn.

An assortment of kits to knit this shawl are available in my shop on a pre-order basis:

https://www.bonayarns.com/shop/p/whisperingwaveskits

Techniques required are i-cord casting on & binding off, yarn overs, dropping stitches, increasing and decreasing.

Pattern has been test-knitted.

Special Introductory price of £5 until the end of July.

Needles: A 3.75mm (US Size 5) circular needle, 150cm/60” long (or equivalent, to achieve gauge).

Additional Tools: Darning/tapestry needle to weave in ends. Scissors. A pair of stitch markers (or more, if that will help you keep track in the increase & YO wave rows). Blocking wires & pins (for best results).

Yarn:

Yarn A - 200g - approx. 850m - sample knit with ‘Soxy Sock’ by Bona Yarns in the colour way ‘It’s A Twister!’

Yarn B - 21g - approx. 175m - sample knit with ‘Mohair Fluff’ by Bona Yarns in the colour way ‘Superstar’

Yarn C - 100g - approx. 425m - sample knit with ‘Soxy Sock’ by Bona Yarns in the colour way ‘Flower Wower’

Note - All the 100g skeins of Yarns A & C that I used were slightly overweight merino/nylon sock yarns (100g = 425m) and I had a few grams of each left over. There are directions for ending the shawl a little early should you find yourself running too low and not wanting to risk playing ‘yarn chicken’.

Gauge: 25 stitches by 52 rows (or 26 garter bumps) in garter stitch, unblocked, measured over 4”, knit with Yarn A. Gauge is important for this shawl, to ensure you don’t run out of Yarn C. I’m a tighter knitter, so if you’re a loose knitter, you may want to go up a needle size to achieve gauge.

Finished Dimension: A semi-circle(ish) measuring approx. 210cm along the wingspan, and 85cm from the centre point of the wingspan to the cast off edge (measured at a 90 degree angle from the wingspan).
