The Bona Soxy Sock Advent 2026 - 'Auld Acquaintance'
I took a break from Advents last year, as I wasn’t feeling inspired, and needed a break from doing them, as they are labour intensive. This year I feel a little clearer and better able to take it on.
I’m also making an earlier start this year with opening up pre-orders, which will help me more manageable with it, starting the dyeing in the Spring. And to help me keep it manageable, I will be capping the number of sets available to no more than 20.
Trying to come up with 24 brand new colours feels too overwhelming for me this year, but I’m feeling really drawn to the notion of dyeing up 24 of my favourite multi & speckle colourways that I’ve done over the years, perhaps throwing some new things into the mix as and when inspiration strikes. And the element of surprise will still remain, as you’ll not know exactly which colourways will appear. Yet maybe also give you a good sense of what to expect.
The photos below aren’t representative of what will actually be in the Advent, though some, or maybe all, will end up in there. The photos are more to give you a sense of past colourways and colours I’m drawn to.
There will be no 100g sock skeins this year as part of the Advent, and no extra “bits”…just 24 × 20g minis of ‘Soxy Sock’, my 75%/25% Superwash Merino/Nylon fingering base, with 85m per 20g.
International orders will ship at the end of October, domestic (UK) orders will ship mid-November.
My yarns are dyed in my studio in London, using professional acid dyes and professional techniques.
My home and studio are smokeless. We do have a cat, but he’s not allowed in my room and he doesn’t knit, but I can’t rule out the possibility of a stray cat hair getting in to the yarns.
As with any hand dyed yarn, hand washing in cold water is recommended. Whilst I do my best to ensure there is minimal, if any, bleeding, I can't make a 100% guarantee that my more saturated colours will not bleed a tiny bit - due to the high saturation of this shade, it may bleed a little more than some of my other colours.
